PD Avengers

About

The Global Alliance to End Parkinson’s Disease (also known as the PD Avengers) is a Parkinson’s action coalition uniting our Parkinson’s community, our partners and friends from around the world, to stand together and demand change in how the disease is seen and treated.

We believe that in order to end this disease, all of us must use our collective superpowers to help those living with this disease live better lives while adding urgency to the cause of ending PD. We also believe in the tenet “think global, act local”. When it comes to advocacy, our tactics may be global, but we believe in activation of local PD Avengers and our partner organizations to fulfil the needs of their local community.

Our mission is divided into three pillars – advocacy, wellness and research.

Advocacy
We believe we must build a loud, uncomfortable, ever-present voice demanding change in how the disease is seen and treated.

Wellness
We believe every person with Parkinson’s should have equitable access to information, medication and therapies.

Research
We believe patients are integral in every aspect of research in the quest for better treatments and ending Parkinson’s.

This World Parkinson’s Day we helped to create and introduce The Spark as a new international symbol for Parkinson’s awareness. You can create your custom spark or send a pre-designed Spark across all social media platforms and look for The Spark in the GIPHY .GIFs. The Spark with “World Parkinson’s Day” is available in 47 different languages.

The Spark, inspired by dopamine – a critical electro-chemical neurotransmitter that people with the disease are striving to retain – will be used to energize a global movement and inspire urgency, unity and hope to end Parkinson’s Disease.

More than 80 Parkinson’s Disease organizations and thousands of advocates from 83 countries announce the launch of ‘The Spark,’ a new international symbol for Parkinson’s awareness, to increase conversation and public awareness around the world’s fastest growing neurological disease.
